| Sustainable garden roofs developed as a new construction material |
| Friday, November 21, 2008 - A Spanish research study has tested different combinations of supports and indigenous plants to determine which are the best for reducing energy consumption inside buildings. This type of roof is a “rurban”, sustainable architectural solution that will lead to a reduction in environmental and acoustic contamination levels in cities, and be visually pleasing.

| Friday, November 21, 2008 - Associated Professor, DSc Barbara Ann Halkier, Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen, has been granted the Danisco Award 2008. She received the prestigious award for her excellent research into secondary metabolites, which are biologically active substances in, for instance, plants. | Mars Express observes aurorae on the Red Planet |

These displays of ultraviolet light appear to be located close to the residual magnetic fields generated by Mars’s crustal rocks.
